Is AJ Lee the figment of some Manga-geek’s adolescent imagination? She exudes the perfect girl-next-door vibe, is a self-described video gamer, enjoys wearing Catholic schoolgirl plaids, and possesses the physical skills of a gymnast. But don’t be fooled. She’s not as innocent as she looks.
Although she stands a petite, 5-foot-2 frame, AJ is a fierce competitor with an energetic, high-flying style that poses a threat to any Diva. This proud New Jersey native first introduced herself to the WWE Universe on the third season of WWE NXT. She finished in third place, but won many WWE fans with her lucha-inspired moveset and indomitable fighting spirit.
A year after debuting on SmackDown in May 2011, AJ was pivotal in the 18-second outcome of the World Heavyweight Championship Match at WrestleMania XXVIII with a kiss to her beau, Daniel Bryan. The couple’s subsequent breakup sent AJ into an emotional tailspin, and she has continued to develop crushes on WWE’s top Superstars, including CM Punk.
Shortly after experiencing the love loss of Bryan, AJ began displaying a bizarre pattern of erratic behavior that caught the entire WWE Universe off-guard. Seemingly without reason, she slapped trusted confidante Kaitlyn and began inserting herself fearlessly into big-game situations involving her apparent love interests, including Kane, Punk and Daniel Bryan Daniel Bryan — whom she was slated to wed on Raw 1,000.
The happy couple’s nuptials would come to a screeching halt WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon informed the WWE Universe that AJ is the new Raw General Manager, much to Bryan’s dismay.
AJ’s tenure as Raw GM was short-lived, however, and she resigned from her post due to an alleged inappropriate relationship with John Cena, much to the delight of new Raw Managing Supervisor Vickie Guerrero. As The Queen Diva relished the opportunity to humiliate AJ and further expose her fraternization with the Cenation leader, the entire WWE Universe was shocked to learn the fiery Diva was actually in a steamy relationship with the 12-time World Champion, which earned AJ a Slammy Award for Best Kiss of the Year!
Even more surprising was what transpired at WWE TLC, when AJ intervened in Cena’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match with Dolph Ziggler, costing The Cenation Commander-in-Chief a World Championship opportunity and allowing The Showoff to retain his Money in the Bank contract. The following night, AJ made it clear that her allegiance now lies with Ziggler … and a mysterious NXT newcomer by the name of Big E Langston.
AJ & Ziggler had hoped to kick off 2013 in grandiose fashion with a special New Year’s Eve toast, but The Showoff and his deceitful gal pal had little reason to raise their glasses at the end of the night thanks to the Cenation leader. As the couple attempted to humiliate Cena by highlighting his missteps in 2012, the 12-time World Champion retaliated by dumping a hot, smelly mess all over the egotistical pairing. Cena didn’t say exactly what the brown substance was, but judging by Ziggler and AJ’s reaction … it wasn’t chocolate pudding. With the massive Big E Langston by her side, AJ Lee has joined her “Ziggy” in his quest to prevent the Cenation leader from winning the Royal Rumble Match.
Through it all, one thing is clear about AJ Lee: She always keeps us guessing.
